Ubuntu 17.10 corrupts your BIOS

First they only destroyed your disks, then they went hand in hand with their wonderful Debian upstream onto rendering SSL useless without anyone noticing for years (manyeyeballs, aka the power of open source and inherent code review in action!), but now they finally went all in and killed your comp altogether. Awesome quality software in the works, guys.

Canonical has temporarily pulled the download links for Ubuntu 17.10 “Artful Aardvark” from the Ubuntu website due to ongoing reports of some laptops finding their BIOS corrupted after installing this latest Ubuntu release.

Brokenness. Taking it to a whole new level. I’m always baffled how this distro survived, let alone gained popularity for this long. Except for the infinite amount of money Mark is throwing at it. Hopefully this nightmare will end someday and we can resort to something halfway reliable at last.
