ZENS just announced the Liberty Wireless Charger. Unsurprisingly, it’s still not the device I’m looking for. Particularly price-wise. But let’s revisit the chart first:
USB-PD Power Supply | USB-PD Charging | Apple Watch Support | Price | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Mophie 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ | $139.95 |
SliceCharge Pro | ✓ | ✗ | ✓ | $159.95 |
Nomad Base Station Hub Edition | ✗ | ✓ | ✗ | $99.95 |
Nomad Base Station Apple Watch Edition | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ | $139.95 |
Nomad Base Station Pro | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | N/A |
ZENS Liberty Wireless Charger | ✓ | ✗ | ✓ | $179.98 |
One thing perplexes me to great extent, ZENS, please enlighten me: why on Earth would I get myself a $180 charging station, if I still needed a separate charger for my notebook? Or… anything else that has a USB-C port and needs charging? I just don’t get it. It’s really not that complicated, guys. The first USB-C Macbook came out early 2015, almost five years ago. The iPad Pro’s been using USB-C since 2018. Google requires all Android phone makers to support USB-PD. USB-C and USB-PD are here to stay. It’s friggin’ time you finally embrace them.
Am I missing something here? Is there a charger that ticks all the boxes? Please let me know in the comments below!
